COLUMBIANA - Leetonia outscored Heartland Christian in every quarter on the way to a 39-24 win in Friday's season opener.
Emily Schneider paced the Bears with a game-high 14 points. Autumn Champney added nine points, Haley Scoville grabbed 12 rebounds and Tori Norman had pulled down eight. Mara Newton made three steals.
The Bears led 10-4 in the first quarter and 19-10 at halftime and never looked back.
For Heartland, Ginny Burgess and Madison Pennington each scored eight points.
Leetonia also won the reserve game, 61-6, as Kristy Eckman totaled 25 points.
Both teams return to action Monday as Leetonia hosts East Palestine and Heartland travels to Sebring.
