David W. Boyd, 72, of Wellsville, Ohio, died suddenly Thursday November 14, 2013 while working on his farm. He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on May 26, 1941, a son of the late G. Walter and Esther (Frischkorn) Boyd.
David lived all of his life, in Wellsville, on the family farm. He was a Wellsville High School Graduate Class of 1959. He worked for at short time at the Crucible Steel Mill, but spent over 50 years of his life as a dairy farmer. He had, in recent years, grown hay and raised beef. He was a member of Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church and sat on the Oak Ridge Cemetery Board. He was also a member of the Columbiana County Farm Bureau. Mr. Boyd had just recently been re-elected as a Yellow Creek Township Trustee, a position he had held for the past 13 years.
He is survived by two daughters: Kristen A. West and her husband Tim of Wellsville and, Debra L. Boyd-Kimball and her husband Rick of Hanoverton; one brother: Kenny Boyd and his wife Betty of Leetonia; two sisters: Janette Baker and her husband Charles of Wellsville, and Patricia Fraley and her husband Mark of Salineville; one grandson: Timmy West and several nieces and nephews. Affectionately known as Pap-Pap to his grandson, he cherished the time he spent with him passing on his love for farming as well as shooting hoops.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Patricia (Mellott) Boyd, whom he married May 25, 1963, preceded him in death on April 10, 1995.
Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Monday, November 18, 2013 at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Wellsville.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville Chapel on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
