East Palestine, Ohio Rick L. Kirk, 69, of Padgett Road passed away at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 12th at Hospice House, Poland, where he had been a pa-tient for the past few days.
Rick was born March 14, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Glenn and Marjorie Yost Kirk, and had resided in the area for the past forty years. He had been employed as a foreman with the Insul Company, and later was with Electrical Refractories, and for the past several years he had been employed as a custodian with the East Palestine School District.
He is survived by his wife, the former Peg Peterson Elser, whom he married May 19, 2001; a daughter Kelli (Micky Williams) Kirk, Austin, TX; a step son, Bernard Mahon, Jr., New Waterford; and two step daughters, Lynn (Dan) Hill, Leetonia, and Lana (Richard) Ferris, East Palestine. Rick also leaves nine grandchildren, Gabie and Chloe Williams, Bernard Mahon III, Ricky Mahon, Corey, Carter, and Caleb Hill, and Jacob and Emily Ferris; four great grandchildren; four brothers, Glenn, Jim, and Andy Kirk of Pittsburgh, PA, Philip Artman and Marjorie (Frank) Quetot, both of Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Householder Kirk, on June 24, 2000, as well as a son step-son, Robert Mahon, and a granddaughter, Sherri Mahon.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 15th at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, with Rebecca Hudak, a chaplain with Hospice of the Valley. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the funeral service. The family has asked that material tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
