LISBON -One of the men responsible for a New Waterford meth lab, Daniel Todd, 34, Silliman Street, New Waterford, was sentenced to five years in prison Monday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

Todd had pleaded guilty in August to charges of illegal manufacture of methamphetamine and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamine, prohibitions concerning the purchase of pseudoephedrine and two counts of possession of drugs.

Todd had reportedly told Judge C. Ashley Pike he has a drug problem he has been working on, but Pike agreed with the recommended five-year sentence requested by Assistant County Prosecutor Ryan Weikart. Todd is the third person sentenced to prison time for the meth lab, which was found by investigators in February.

Bradley Carpenter, 29, Creek Road, New Waterford, another man charged in the incident, also was sentenced in August to a five-year prison sentence.

Todd, his wife Heidi Carpenter and Jill Fulton were all charged after the four were reportedly involved in the manufacturing of meth. Weikart said the meth lab had been reportedly cooking a day before investigators searched the home.

Heidi Todd's children, at least one of whom is believed by prosecutors to also be Daniel Todd's child, were in the home when the meth was cooked. Police had originally been to the home investigating a report of child endangering.

Fulton, 38, West Martin Street, East Palestine, was sentenced last week to nine months in prison for complicity to the illegal assembly of drugs for purchasing pseudoephedrine pills, one of the key ingredients used.

Heidi Todd, 34, Silliman Street, New Waterford, is scheduled for a jury trial in November for similar charges to her husband.
