Expensive fire averted

October 12, 2013
Morning Journal News

Quick actions by Gary Welsh of 39998 state Route 558 in Leetonia saved his 1995 Gleaner combine from going up in flames. The Leetonia Fire Department arrived to find Welsh had gotten the chaff that had caught fire while he was cutting soybean removed from the combine and thrown on the ground. Firefighters made sure the fire was out and that there was no major damage to the combine. All seemed to be all right upon the start-up of the machine. Above, firefighter Mark Edwards sprays the combine.
