August 8, 2013
Morning Journal News

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH - Longtime city resident Fae Evelyn Mansfield Allison, passed away at the age of 91at the East Liverpool City Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, August 6, 2013, following a brief illness. Fae, formerly of Harding Avenue, had resided at Crossroads at Beaver Creek since December, 2007.

Born on July 23, 1922 in Hookstown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Gertrude Nickle Mansfield.

Fae was graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1940 and shortly thereafter became associated with the former First National Bank in downtown East Liverpool (which later became Bank One), retiring as an Assistant Administrator in 1984, after 41 years of service.

For over 50 years, Fae belonged to the former Calvary United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught the Sunbeam Sunday School Class, and was involved in the youth group and many committees and activities, and she also audited the church books. Fae later belonged to the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, where she continued to be involved.

Always happiest when helping others, Fae enjoyed her affiliations with the East Liverpool City Hospital's Auxiliary; she served for many years as volunteer in the snack bar, and was also a surgical hostess. She was a part of many community groups and activities, including Junior Women's Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, the East Liverpool Historical Society, and the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association and its Olde Guard. In 1976, Fae was honored by the Olde Timers Baseball Association with a Civic Award plaque for her many contributions to the tri-state area.

Even though she loved to travel, her favorite saying was "bloom where you're planted", and she certainly did just that. Fae was always smiling, had a great sense of humor, and especially loved music, poetry, and pug dogs.

Preceding her in death on October 26, 1973 was her husband, John K. "Jack" Allison, whom she married on November 12, 1949.

Survivors include her brother, Thomas Mansfield and his wife, Gilda, of East Liverpool, and a nephew, Michael McKinnon and his wife, Pat, of Greensboro, NC. Fae also leaves behind several cousins and many friends.

Also preceding her in death were her three sisters, Sara Marie McKinnon, Mabel Neal and Edith Barnes.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 Saturday, with Pastor Dick Smith of the church officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, followed by a continued time of fellowship at the Good Shepherd Church.

In Fae's memory, contributions may be sent c/o Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 49238 Calcutta Smiths Ferry Road, East Liverpool, OH 43920.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff, nurses and aides of Crossroads at Beaver Creek for their wonderful and compassionate care.
