Dorothy McCoy

Morning Journal News

East Palestine, OH - Dorothy Mae (Roessler) McCoy, 80, of East Clark Street, passed away early Sunday morning at her residence. She was born on May 7, 1933, a daughter of the late Lelland and Bertha Roessler of Leetonia. Her close friends knew her as "Dot." She lived in Leetonia until her marriage to William F. McCoy of East Palestine, and worked at Salem Hospital before becoming a housewife.

Dorothy was much more than a wife and mother, she was our best friend and companion. She was a petite lady with a huge heart and had the greenest thumb. She always would bring our dying plants back. Her garden and flowers just flourished. She passed many of her talents to her children, like: homemade everything, canning, quilting, cake decorating, etc. We have passed these talents to our children and grandchildren. Her gentle touch, big blue eyes, and great sense of humor will be with us always. She will be greatly missed. When you see us smile you will know we are thinking of her.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bill McCoy; a son, William (Mike) McCoy of Virginia; and three daughters Debra (McCoy) Malcolm of Youngstown, Diane (McCoy) Earnest of East Palestine, Lori (McCoy) Dukats of North Carolina. Six grandchildren April Heeter of Austintown, OH, Allan Noble of Poland, OH, Christopher Earnest of Robesonia, PA, Amanda Rusk of Robesonia, PA, Alisha Dukats and Ryan Dukats of Denver, North Carolina and six great-grandchildren also survive her. She also leaves behind two sisters, Mary (Roessler) Pegg of Leetonia, Bert (Roessler) Baker of Florida; and one brother John Roessler of Columbiana.

No services or calling hours will be observed. There will be a private service at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
