COLUMBIANA - What started as a routine test drive Wednesday in Columbiana turned into a criminal offense, with charges to be filed against the two people involved.
Dalton Lappert of New Waterford had met the people at the 7&14 Truck Stop around 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to the police report, he was reportedly trying to sell his 1996 Pontiac Firebird and had allowed the two to take it for a test drive, but when they still hadn't returned 20 minutes later Lappert reported it stolen.
The vehicle was last seen headed west toward Salem, according to the report.
According to police Thursday, the Pennsylvania Highway Patrol found the car unoccupied on a road in Darlington Township.
Police were not sure at this point how the car ended up in Pennsylvania or if that is where the two suspects are from.
Their names are not being released since charges have not been filed. They will be charged with stealing a motor vehicle.
