Salineville - John R. Brown, 66, of Salineville Road West, died Wednesday evening at Salem Community Hospital.

John was born June 24, 1946, in Salineville, the son of the late Raymond and Mable Maley Brown.

He lived all his life in the Salineville area, graduated from Southern Local High School and served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. He retired from Republic Steel in Feb. 2012. He was at one time a volunteer for the Salineville Fire Department, and when he was younger worked at the Kerr Funeral Home. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He loved his grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with them and in his eyes they could do no wrong.

John will be sadly missed by his wife of forty-one years Dorothy Hill Brown at home; two sons, John (Nan) Brown and Robert Brown both of Salineville, two grandchildren, Joshua and Trisha Brown of Salineville; nieces, Shelly Smith and Sondra Newhouse; and a nephew Steve Newhouse.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 4:00 PM at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville, Ohio with Fred O. May officiating, where full military honors will be accorded by the Salineville American Legion John Adams Post 442.

The family will be present to receive family and friends from 2-4 on Saturday, before the memorial service.
