Marked man

May 22, 2013

Editor:

Clement Vallandigham was the Jane Fonda of his day. I think a statue of him would be inappropriate, and more so the placement of it beside a weapon of the war he strenuously (some at the time would say traitorously) opposed.

I think a historical marker would be more appropriate and in order given his historical significance. And with so many public figures saying they know nothing of Clement Vallandigham, I would say a historical marker also is very much needed and would serve a better purpose than a statue, which tells nothing of the man.
