SALEM - Woodrow R. Adkins, 83, of Salem and formerly of East Liverpool, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 in the emergency room at Salem Community Hospital.
Born in Fez, W.Va. on March 5, 1930, he was a son of the late Elza Adkins Sr. and Opal Cummings Adkins.
He had worked at the former Crucible Steel in Midland before retiring as an electrician from Morgan Engineering in Alliance, and he had been a member of East Liverpool Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Surviving is his wife, Martha Cunningham Adkins of Salem; his son, Dan Adkins of Salem; his daughter, Helen Lockhart of Strongsville, Ohio; his sisters, Betty Ray and Dean Davis of Pinehurst, N.C., Mary Bevington of Maryland, and Sue Werner of Ocala, Fla.; and his brothers, Jack Adkins of Lisbon and John Adkins of Chester. Two grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Rev. Willard Chuck Adkins will celebrate Woodrow's life on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where family and friends will gather on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Private interment will be held on Friday at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
