April 14, 2013
Morning Journal News

Lynn Mitchell, 49, of New Waterford was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with serious injuries after she was broadsided by 48-year-old Thomas Peterson of Saltwell Road, Lisbon, who ran the red light at a high rate of speed at the state Routes 7 and 14 intersection in Columbiana Saturday afternoon. Peterson was also transported by Columbiana EMS to St. Elizabeth in Youngstown. Trooper Michael Smith had reported observing Peterson driving at a high rate of speed on state Route 7 and had turned around but never caught up to Peterson's vehicle until coming upon the crash site. Suspected drug paraphernalia was recovered at the scene. Smith is investigating the crash, and charges are pending.
