A three-vehicle crash on state Route 45 in Salem Township shortly after midnight Friday sent several people to area hospitals. According to the State Highway Patrol, Ariel D. Kepner, 19, Bears Den Road, Leetonia, was driving southwest on state Route 558 approaching state Route 45 at about 12:20 a.m. Friday when she failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Joann Plunkett, 58, state Route 45, Wellsville, who was driving southeast on state Route 45. Kepner's vehicle was struck by Plunkett's, sending Kepner off the left side of the road where she struck a guardrail before striking another vehicle driven by Tracy L. Marcovitz, 40, Youngstown. Marcovitz was driving northeast on Teegarden Road with several passengers in her vehicle. Plunkett's car continued off the left side of the road also striking a guardrail. Kepner was listed as having possible injuries, but her passenger, Melissa Laroche, with no age or address known at this time, was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital with serious injuries. Plunkett went to Salem Community Hospital with minor injuries. Marcovitz and her passengers, Sherry Povssick, no address on the report; Gabriel Mercado, Youngstown; Natalie Mercado, Youngstown; and Nadia Masgood, Youngstown, all went to Salem Community Hospital to be checked for possible injuries.
