Kindergartner brought toy gun to school

Morning Journal News

LEETONIA- School administration last week caught a kindergarten student with a toy gun at the K-12 campus.

According to Superintendent Rob Mehno, Leetonia Police Chief John Soldano on Friday attended a meeting with the student, the student's parents and Principal Missy Brock after the student brought a fake or look-a-like gun to the school. There was no threat at any time to other students, he said.

Mehno said Soldano was at the school at the time and that Brock followed procedure, which includes suspension, but that he could not reveal disciplinary action against the student.

"No matter what age, safety is always the main concern," he said.

Soldano said the school handled the situation and no police report was filed.
