Calcutta Walmart evacuated; bomb squad called to store

CALCUTTA - Fire departments from Glenmoor, Calcutta, Liverpool Township, St. Clair Township police, DEA agents are all on scene at Walmart on Dresden Avenue, which has been evacuated after an unknown electrical device was found.

First reports of the situation began around noon Tuesday.

Employees are standing around the parking lot, some customers are still sitting in their cars but most have left.

An unknown electrical device with wires coming from it was found in the electronics department, according to fire officials.

Apparently, the bomb squad from Youngstown has been called.

Customers were told to leave the store. One customer said there were filled shopping carts "just sitting there" where customers left them as they evacuated.

Traffic into the Walmart area remains blocked at this point.
