Mystery retailer looking at East Liverpool property

EAST LIVERPOOL - A new retail store is being proposed for the former soccer fields along Pennsylvania Avenue in the East End of the city, providing a zoning change is approved by the city Planning Commission.

The commission will meet at 5:15 p.m. March 19 in council chambers at City Hall to consider a request by GBT Realty Corporation seeking to change the current M-1, or Restricted Industrial classification of the area in question to a B-4, or Highway Business, classification.

The request was made on behalf of property owners William L. Miller and Peter D. Visnic who has advised the planning department they are proposing to permit and construct a 9,100-square-foot retail store on about 1.5 acres of the nearly 9-acre parcel of ground.

Currently, such a store would not be permitted in an area zoned M-1.

Spokesman Jason Horowitz said he was not at liberty at this time to disclose what type of retail store is being proposed for the property.

Horowitz said, however, he expects representatives will attend the March 19 meeting and should have more information available.

The property is located one-tenth of a mile east of Lee Street on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue.
