BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL

Lowellville 53, Southern Local 35

SALINEVILLE -?Southern Local managed only total 14 points in the first and last quarters on Monday en route to a 53-35 home loss against Lowellville.

The loss drops the Indians to 13-6 on the season and ends a five-game win streak.

Southern fell behind 11-8 after the first quarter and trailed by nine points at the break.

Kyler Woodward was the only Indian to reach double digits with 11 points while also grabbing 10 rebounds.

Luke Griffith - coming off a 33-point outing - was held to just seven points.

Jared Shilot added four points, nine rebounds and four steals.

For Lowellville, Nick Ballone led the way with 16 points.

Southern Local will play at Sebring on Friday.

NEW MIDDLETOWN -?Lisbon fell to 6-11 on the season Tuesday with a 51-34 loss at Springfield.

The Blue Devils managed only two points in the opening quarter and trailed by 19 at halftime.

Austin Rutecki paced Lisbon with nine points.

Josh Craig finished with five points and seven rebounds, while Josh Liberati added five points and four steals.

Matt Spencer finished with four points and seven rebounds.

Springfield was led by Eoghan Bees' 16 points.

In reserve action, Springfield won, 61-22. Mike Evans led Lisbon with 12 points.

The Blue Devils will host Crestview on Friday.

East Palestine 72, Mineral Ridge 50

EAST PALESTINE -?East Palestine handled Mineral Ridge, 72-50, on Tuesday in a game that wasn't even as close as the score.

The Bulldogs led the Rams by seven points after the first quarter, 17 at the half and by 27 heading into the final frame.

The win moves East Palestine back above .500 at 9-8 on the season.

The Bulldogs got career-highs in points from both Steve Parker and Zack May-Robb. Parker finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while May-Robb netted 15 points.

Austen Reiser added a game-high 23 points and 16 rebounds. Nate Keylor finished with eight points and seven assists.

For Mineral Ridge, Zac Hagy led with 19 points.

In junior varsity action, Mineral Ridge won, 47-37. Luke Cope led the Bulldogs with 10 points.

East Palestine will host South Range on Friday.

BMC Tournament

NEW MANCHESTER -?The East Liverpool girls 7th grade basketball team picked up a 21-18 win over Oak Glen on Tuesday in the semifinals of the BMC?Tournament.

Kiandria Cowart paced the Potters with seven poitns, followed by Chelsea Reynolds with six.

The Bears were led by Brooke Reed (8) and Kenzie Beaver (6).

East Liverpool will play in the finals on Monday against the winner of Beaver?Local-Weir. Oak Glen will play the loser of that game on Thursday.

In 8th grade action, Oak Glen defeated Weir, 33-26.

Dominica Price led the Bears with nine points, followed by Taylor McKay with eight.

Oak Glen plays in the finals on Monday against the winner of Indian Creek-Edison.

On tap for today in BMC action at OGMS: 7th grade, Beaver Local/Weir; 8th grade, Edison/Indian Creek.

Lisbon-Wellsville

WELLSVILLE - The Wellsville 7th grade boys basketball team defeated Lisbon, 40-23, on Monday.

Lisbon was led by Branson Brownfield with 10 points. Andre Sloan led the Tigers with nine points.

In 8th grade action, Lisbon won, 32-31.

Jake Liberati paced the Blue Devils with 13 points.

Wellsville was led by Justin Miller with 12 points and Ransom Groadhause with 10 points.

Wellsvile will play at East Palestine on Wednesday.
