SALEM - The Salem Lady Quakers had their three-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Canton South Lady Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at home.
The Lady Quakers were unable to hold an early lead after one quarter but managed to battle back and tie the game heading into the fourth quarter. Salem was then outscored 10-9 in the final frame and was stunned on a last-second shot that sent the Lady Quakers to the loss.
Lindsey Foster led Salem with a double-double, pouring in a career-high 23 points to go with 15 rebounds. Ciera Trybend added eight points and also collected nine rebounds.
"This was the definition of a heartbreaker. The girls played so hard today and fought the whole game," Salem head coach Renee Farina said. "Lindsey Foster had an amazing game, by far the best of her career. She had a career high of 23 points and did a phenomenal job on the boards. We've continued to improve with each game this season, and this is another game to learn from."
Salem (4-9, 3-5 NBC) plays at Louisville Wednesday.

Warriors avenge loss
BELOIT- The West Branch Lady Warriors used a dominant first quarter en route to a 56-42 win against Louisville Saturday afternoon, avenging an early conference season loss and handing the Lady Leopards their first conference loss.
Melinda Trimmer led the Lady Warriors with an all around performance of 13 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists. Taryn Hahn led the West Branch scoring with 14 while Amanda Linhart added five steals. Hannah Lemmon led the Louisville scoring with 10 while Claire Lemmon added 9 to go with six boards.
West Branch handed Louisville its first loss in junior varsity action, 41-37.
With the win West Branch improved to 13-2 overall, 7-2 in the NBC. Louisville fell to
West Branch next plays at Marlington on Wednesday. Louisville hosts Salem Wednesday.

United Local overpowers Leetonia
HANOVERTON- The United Lady Eagles overpowered Leetonia 88-37 Saturday afternoon, remaining undefeated in Inter-Tri County League play.
United had four score in double figures. Emily Zehentbauer led the way with 16 points followed by MacKenzie Gatchel with 15, Cassidy Yoder's 14 and Tara Gray's 11. Leetonia was led in scoring by Nicole Mann with 16 and Bethany Basich with 13. Mann also had eight rebounds and three assists.
United also won the junior varsity contest, 66-26.
With the win United improved to 15-2 overall, 10-0 in league. Leetonia fell to 5-10, 4-5. Lauren Beech had 14 points, MacKenzie Firth had 12 points for United. Autumn Champney had eight for Leetonia.
United next plays at Springfield on Thursday. Leetonia plays at Southern Local Wednesday.
