Sidewalk still closed

January 17, 2013
Morning Journal News

A section of sidewalk and parking spaces on East State Street in downtown Salem in front of the TanFastic building and the Butler Museum of American Art remain closed to pedestrians and vehicles due to the danger from falling bricks. A court case the city initiated against the owners of the TanFastic building to force them to fix the building or tear it down remains pending in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court. Pedestrians are cautioned against going around the barricades and walking on the sidewalk. Salem Service/Safety Director Ken Kenst said "we can't afford to have those bricks fall down. It's a safety issue." The area has been closed since July. (Salem News photo by Mary Ann Greier)
