HANOVERTON - It might have not been classified as a league game, but United made a statement that it was the best team in the 16-team Inter-Tri County League by topping Lowellville 61-40 on Saturday.
Lowellville, defending champions and current leaders of the ITCL lower tier, fell behind 24-13 after a quarter and 45-26 at the half.
United, the current ITCL upper tier leader and defending champion, was led by Courtney Hydrick's 18 points. MacKenzie Gatchel had 13 points, while Sam Spitler added 11 points.
"It was a great team win for the girls tonight," United coach Sam Mathias said. "We came out very focused against a quality opponent."
The Eagles are 12-2 and 7-0, while the Rockets fell to 10-2, 7-0.
Rachel Durbin scored 13 to lead the Rockets.
United won the jayvee game 60-24. Morgan Smith led the way with 20 points for the Eagles who host Lisbon on Monday.
