CALCUTTA -The Beavers took down the Golden Bears.
The Beaver Local wrestling team won nine of the 14 weight classes en route to a 46-22 victory Wednesday night over local-rival Oak Glen at the Beaver Dome on Senior Night.
"It was a very-good night for us," Beaver Local head coach Jordan Williams said. "The kids wrestled hard. I am proud of our guys. The seniors wrestled well."

Beaver Local was up 18-0 even before the first match was wrestled as Oak Glen forfeited three weight classes. The Beavers also won three matches via pinfall, two matches via decision and one by major decision.
"We knew coming into the match they were going to have some forfeits," Williams said. "It was a competitive match. It is always good to start out a match with a lead. It enables the kids to settle in and feel good with where we are at."
The Golden Bears won two matches via pinfall, two by decision and one by major decision.

"We had three forfeits tonight. Things just didn't go our way," Oak Glen head coach Patrick McGillian said. "I thought our kids wrestled well. It just wasn't our night."
With the win, the Beavers are now 9-2 in dual meets this season.
Individually for Beaver Local, Cody Green (220 pounds), Josh Henderson (113) and Daniel Lattanzio (170) all won by pinfall. Also, Cody Riddle (195), Cody Martsolf (285) and Tyler Kelly (182) all won via forfeit. Next, Jack Dawson (106) and Ron Foster (132) both won by decision. Finally, Josh Barber (145) won by major decision.
For Oak Glen, Josh Cornell (120) and Nick Tice (138) both won via pinfall. Also, Will Hogan (152) and Brodie Bittinger (160) both won by decision. Finally, Kyle Mack (126) won by majority decision.
The match began at 195.
The Beavers won the first five weight classes of the night to build a comfortable 27-0 lead. Two of the victories came via forfeit, two came via pinfall and one came by decision.
Riddle started things off with a forfeit. Green followed by pinning Noah Mills in 2:28. Next, Cody Martsolf picked up a victory by forfeit. In the fourth weight class of the match, Dawson defeated Ryan Debee, 3-1. Henderson recorded Beaver Local's fifth-straight victory to open the match by pinning Danny Wkye, 1:20.
"It was not our night," McGillian said. "The kids wrestled tough.
"Beaver Local is a good team."
The Golden Bears responded to win the next two weight classes to cut into the Beavers' lead. The first victory came via pinfall, while the second was by major decision.
The Golden Bears got on the scoreboard when Cornell pinned Dustin Martsolf in 4:28. Mack followed up with a major decision victory over Clayton Davis by a score of 10-0.
Beaver Local won two of the next three matches to regain a firm grasp on the lead.
For the Beavers' Foster defeated Avery Flowers by decision, 9-2, and Barber defeated Patrick Arneault by major decision, 11-3. In between those two matches, Tice pinned Seth Marshall in 22 seconds for the Golden Bears.
"It is always tough to lose to a rival," McGillian said. "Beaver Local is a good team. We will get another shot at them at OVACs."
The Golden Bears countered with a pair of wins by decision before the Beavers closed out the match in style with a pin and a forfeit.
For the visitors, Hogan defeated Kole McKenzie, 6-0, and then Bittinger defeated Morley Marsden, 7-2.
For the victors, Lattanzio pinned Noah Flowers in 31 seconds, and Kelly was awarded a victory via forfeit.
"Oak Glen has a great tradition," Williams said. "They are always tough. We always look forward to wrestling them. That's for sure. We are looking forward to going into the rest of our season."
Both teams will be off until the Ron Mauck OVAC Tournament scheduled to begin Thursday down at WesBanco Area in Wheeling.
"We should be getting people back in time for the OVACs," McGillian said. "We are going to have six days off.
"Beaver Local is a good program. We wrestled tough. It just wasn't our night."
Beaver Local's match scheduled for noon this Saturday at John Marshall has been canceled.
"The seniors are special," Williams said. "This is my third year. I am starting to feel close to the kids. It is hard to see the seniors go. They are a good group of kids. They have worked hard. They have earned everything they have gotten. I am proud of them, and I am proud of who they are becoming as a people."
