LISBON - Albert E. Hobbs, 84, formerly of Sherman Street, passed away at 1:40 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Hobbs was born Jan. 3, 1928 in Missouri, a son of the late James Hobbs and Dorothy (McCallister) Hobbs Strunks, and had lived in Lisbon the past 15 years, coming from Florida.
Albert worked as a palletizer operator for Tropicana for 23 years, retiring in 1991, and he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Mr. Hobbs was also a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
His wife, Arlene (Bohrer) Hobbs, preceded him in death June 12, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin and Everett Hobbs.
He is survived by his children, Albert Hobbs Jr. of Salineville, Alice Loy, Melody Hobbs and Pauline Gauntt, all of Lisbon, Dorothy Adeleman of Bradenton, Fla., and James Hobbs of Waycross, Ga.; sister, Pansy Jersensky of Missouri; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan., 9, 2013 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7160 State Route 45, Lisbon with Bishop Steve Wright officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
