LISBON - The 16-year-old boy believed responsible for a bomb threat that resulted in the evacuation of Beaver Local High School on Nov. 29 has been formally charged in Columbiana County Juvenile Court.
According to court documents, the boy had been living at the Rogers Residential Center while attending the local high school. He now has been placed at a home in Massillon.
The boy's name was not released on the court document.
Court documents state an adult facing a similar charge would face a second-degree felony.
In November, it was reported the school learned about the threat after a message was found written in pencil on a boys' restroom stall. Students were taken across state Route 7 to the middle school and authorities searched the school for two hours, but found no explosive device. The Columbiana County Sheriff's Department, West Point Fire Department and the Youngstown Bomb Squad were all called to the scene.
Students returned to their classrooms that afternoon and the boy was taken into custody by 3:30 p.m. the same day.
