Wellsville 82, Oak Glen 51

NEW MANCHESTER - The Tigers are on a roll.

Wellsville won its sixth straight game on Friday and improved to 7-1 on the season with an 82-51 victory over Oak Glen.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 18-10 lead after one quarter of play and went into the half with an 18-point advantage.

A 26-8 third quarter in favor of Wellsville put the game away.

"We tried to keep them from running in the first half," Oak Glen coach Dave Smith said. "We just couldn't sustain it.

"We couldn't stay with them. They run very well, pass very well. They're a very well coached team. I've got a lot of respect for how they do things."

Jordan Sloan had a big night for the visitors finishing with a season-high 19 points.

Three other Tigers finished in double digits, including Nate Scott (18), Camden Douglas (13) and Seth Bradford (10). Douglas added 10 assists, seven rebounds and three blocks. Bradford also had 13 rebounds and five assists.

Brendon Carr added nine points.

For Oak Glen, Cody Howell led the way with 10 points, while David McGraw finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

In junior varsity action, Wellsville won, 65-47. Jansen Stoakes led the Tigers with 22 points, while Nigel Spann added 19.

The Tigers will look to keep their winning streak alive next Friday when they host Toronto. The Bears will also play next Friday at home against Steubenville C.C.

TORONTO - The Indians won their fourth straight game on Friday, 54-36, at Toronto.

Southern Local (6-2) took and early 16-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back. The Indians held a nine-point lead at the break and had a 22-point advantage heading into the final frame.

Luke Griffith led the Indians with 17 points, including three three-pointers.

J.J. Napierkowski netted 10 points, while Jared Shilot added nine points and eight rebounds.

Dylan Ketchum finished with seven points and four steals, and Kyler Woodward added seven points and seven rebounds.

Toronto was led by Brad Melville's 13 points.

The Indians will look to keep their winning streak alive at Beaver Local on Wednesday.

Beaver?Local 34, Struthers 32

CALCUTTA - The Beavers withstood the Wildcats' charge.

The Beaver Local boys' basketball team scored 17 points in each half en route to a 34-32 victory over AAC rival Struthers Friday night at the Beaver Dome.

With the win, the Beavers are now 6-3 on the season.

Beaver Local led 17-15 at halftime, and the two teams each scored 17 points in the final two quarters of the game.

The Beavers have now won-two straight games after a three-game losing streak. Beaver Local opened the season with four-straight wins.

Zack Mick contributed a team-high 10 points to lead the way for the Beavers.

Also for Beaver Local, Troy Hudson netted eight points, Brandon Fetty tallied six points and Josh Underwood delivered four points. Finally, Ethan Campbell collected three points, Chase Hilliard recorded two points and Matt Chamberlain added one point.

Underwood and Hilliard each grabbed a team-high six rebounds, while Mick and Chamberlain pulled down four.

The Wildcats led 7-6 after the first quarter, but Beaver Local outscored Struthers, 11-8, in the second stanza to take a two-point lead into halftime. The visitors came back to tie the score at 26 heading into the fourth quarter.

Beaver Local's next game is Wednesday at home against Southern Local.
