BEAVER TOWNSHIP- The cause of death of a Salem construction worker who fell through a roof at a North Lima business Wednesday morning has been determined as blunt force trauma to the head, according to the Mahoning County Coroner's Office.

The office is continuing to work with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to investigate the incident which claimed the life of 19-year-old Alex Hrovatic of Salem. An employee of Witmer's Construction, Hrovatic reportedly fell through a roof 25 feet to a cement floor at Mahoning Valley Water on South Street Extension (state Route 164) Wednesday morning. He died from his injuries at 5:20 a.m. Thursday.

A representative from OSHA said that the department notified Witmer's of the investigation on Thursday and has up to six months to determine if a health or safety violation occurred.

According to Beaver Township Fire Chief Russ Osborne, EMS personnel responded to an initial report at 10:30 a.m. of a man who fell through the roof at the South Street facility. He said they found bystanders and co-workers administering CPR to the unconscious victim, assumed the life-saving efforts and had the victim en route to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boardman within three minutes.
