BEAVER TOWNSHIP - The death of a Salem construction worker following a fall Wednesday at a North Lima business is under investigation.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), along with the Mahoning County Coroner's Office, is investigating the death of 19-year-old Alex Hrovatic, who reportedly fell through a roof 25 feet to cement ground at Mahoning Valley Water on South Street Extention (state Route 164) Wednesday morning. He worked for Witmer's Construction east of Washingtonville. He succumbed to injuries early Thursday.

A cause of death is expected to be released today.

According to Beaver Township Fire Chief Russ Osborne, EMS personnel responded to an initial report at 10:30 a.m. of a man who fell through the roof at the South Street facility. He said they found bystanders and co-workers administering CPR to the unconscious victim, assumed the life-saving efforts and had the victim en route to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boardman within three minutes.

A representative at Witmer's Construction said no one was available for comment about the incident.

Hrovatic's Facebook page said he graduated from Salem High School in 2010 and attended Stark State College. No funeral arrangements have been released.

Staff writer Larry Shields assisted with this report.
