Wellsville 87, Leetonia 70

WELLSVILLE - The Tigers offense was firing on all cylinders.

Wellsville connected on eight three-pointers on Tuesday in an 87-70 win over visiting Leetonia.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 5-1 on the season.

Wellsville opened a 21-14 lead after one quarter of play and went into the break leading by 11 points.

Seth Bradford was one of the Tigers with a hot hand finishing with a game-high 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Nate Scott added 22 points and nine assists, while Brendon Carr had 12 points.

Jordan Sloan netted nine points and dished out six assists, and Sam McIntosh added eight points.

Trent Ferry led Leetonia with 21 points in the losing effort.

In reserve action, Wellsville won, 55-31. Nigel Spann and Sam McIntosh led the Tigers with 13 points each.

Wellsville will host Lowellville on Friday.

Southern Local 61, Western Reserve 36

SALINEVILE - The Indians were too much for the Blue Devils.

Luke Griffith and J.J. Napierkowski each scored in double digits leading the Southern Local boys' basketball team to a 61-36 victory over Western Reserve Tuesday night at home.

Griffith tallied a game-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds, while Napierkowski ended up with 15 points, seven assists and eight steals.

Also for Southern (4-2), Dylan Ketchum and Kyler Woodward and Jared Shilot all tallied eight points, Josh Brown and Caleb Gotchal each netted two points and Aaron Sevek contributed one point.

Woodward also grabbed seven rebounds.

Nolan Snyder recorded 12 points to lead the way for Western Reserve.

The Indians outscored the Blue Devils, 33-11, in the second half.

Southern won the JV game, 72-31. Gotchal collected 19 points to lead the way for the Indians, while Christian Adkins added 14 points.

Lance Deeze and Kyle Holles each scored nine points for the Blue Devils.

Southern's next game is Friday night at home against Columbiana.

Lisbon 57, South Range 47

NORTH LIMA - Lisbon earned a hard-fought road win on Tuesday, 57-47, at South Range.

Both teams had 11 points after one quarter of play, and the Blue Devils took a three-point lead into the break.

Lisbon (4-2) outpaced South Range (2-4), 29-22, in the second half to secure the victory.

A balanced scoring attack for the Blue Devils saw four players reach double digits led by freshman Josh Liberati who finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Another frosh, Josh Craig netted 12 points.

Matt Spencer finished with 11 points, while Corey Brammer added 10.

For the Raiders, Jake Arsuffi led the way with a game-high 20 points.

In reserve action, South Range came out on top, 37-18. Trevor Reese and Jared Merriman led Lisbon with four points apiece.

The Blue Devils will look to pick up another road win on Friday at East Palestine.

East Palestine 47, Jackson-Milton 36

EAST PALESTINE - The Bulldogs are back to even.

East Palestine improved to 3-3 on the season Tuesday with a 47-36 win over visiting Jackson-Milton.

The Bulldogs held a 12-8 lead over the Bluejays after one quarter and went into the half with a seven-point advantage.

Austen Reiser paced the East Palestine attack with a game-high 21 points and also added 14 rebounds and seven blocks.

Nick Monteleone finished with 11 points, while Nate Keylor had six points and eight assists.

Jeremy Fitzpatrick led Jackson-Milton with 11 points.

In junior varsity action, East Palestine won, 47-39. Phil Fusetti led the Bulldogs with 16 points.

The Bulldogs will host Lisbon on Friday.

South Side 48, Freedom Area 44

HOOKSTOWN - The Rams battled their way past the Bulldogs.

Three players scored in double digits leading the South Side boys' basketball team to a 48-44 victory over Freedom Area Tuesday night at home.

With the win, the Rams are now 2-4 on the season.

Zach Murrer recorded a game-high 17 points to lead the way for South Side while Luke Collett tallied 15 points and John Magusiak added 10 points,

Nick Schwab scored a team-high 16 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs.

South Side's next game is Friday at Carlynton.
