WELLSVILLE - Donald V. Hoal, 68, of Wellsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Heritage Valley Hospital in Beaver, Pa.
He was born Dec. 22, 1943, in Wellsville, the son of the late Vernon and Ila (Harmon) Hoal.
Don was a 1962 graduate of Wellsville High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2005 as a print operator for National Church Supply Company and had previously worked at H.K. Porter/Swank Refractories.
Donald was a member of Lake Mount Church of Christ in Rogers as well as the YMCA. He enjoyed working puzzles, walking and riding his bike.
Survivors include three sisters, Verna Lee Berry and her husband Ray of Sebring, Paula Partlow of Sebring, and Judy McDevitt and her husband Carl of Wellsville; 11 nieces and nephews, 20 great nieces and nephews, and nine great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much. Each of his nieces and nephews thought of him as another "father" whom they could count on to attend their programs/sporting events, put together their Christmas toys and just be there for them. He was a friend to all.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne Brandt; and his brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Ruth Sanford.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville, with Associate Pastor Alan Boone officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery where he will be accorded full military honors by Tri-State Veteran's Burial Group.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
