CANTON - Points were at a premium on Saturday afternoon as the Salem girls basketball team fell on the road to Canton South 38-25. The Quakers managed to record double digits in a quarter just once and were held to just two points in the opening stanza. Salem also committed 23 turnovers.
Catherine Stiff and Tori Jones each netted seven points to lead Salem. Cierra Trybend added five points and 12 rebounds.
"We were sloppy and we had too many turnovers," Salem coach Renee Farina said. "When we did get stops, we couldn't convert offensively. This is a tough place to place and it's even harder when you make those mistakes."
Salem is at Struthers on Tuesday.
"They're a very good team," Farina said. "We have a really tough stretch coming up for us right now with Struthers, Louisville and West Branch."
