EAST PALESTINE - Maribeth Elick, 93, of East Taggart Street, passed away 2:15 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, at Covington Community Campus where she had been a patient for the past two days.
Maribeth was born in Payne, on May 17, 1919, a daughter of the late Alphus and Clara Cave Gaut, and had resided there until moving to East Palestine in 1952. She and her husband had moved to the Richmond, VA area in 1969, returning here in 1982. She had been employed at the former Reisman's Clothing Store for a period of time.
She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and its Wesley Wed Class, the East Palestine Town "N Country Garden Club, and the East Palestine Senior Citizens.
Her husband, George J. Elick, whom she married on July 15, 1939, preceded her in death on December 17, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael D. Elick in 2008.
Maribeth is survived by three sons, Mark (Candy) Elick and Myron (Stephanie) Elick, both of East Palestine, and Michael (Hope) Elick, Jeffersonville, IN; three grandchildren, Geri Noel, Mark Elick II, and Mandy Riegler; nine great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Friends will be received from Noon until 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 10th, at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at the conclusion of calling hours, 1:00 p.m., with her minister, Rev. Mark McTrustry, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery.
