Clean up of old Sky Bank under way

December 6, 2012
Morning Journal News

LEETONIA- A clean up of the old Sky Bank building on Main Street is under way, according to Village Administrator Gary Phillips.

Phillips Wednesday night told Village Council that utilities have been turned on, with minimal heat, and the basement is being cleared out. Council earlier this month accepted the building back as a gift from the Leetonia Area Community Foundation for possible use for storage or office space. The building will require approximately $3,000 to fix two roof leaks and related damage to the interior walls.

Village Solicitor Walter Newton is currently working on the deed transaction and there is no timetable for when the building will be ready, Phillips said.

In other news, Phillips reported that leaf pick up with the Vac Machine will continue through this Friday. Only bagged leaves and sticks will be picked up after that day.

Christmas Light Up Night will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Wick Park. There will be cookies and hot cocoa, photos with Santa by Kreative Photography and gift bags for all children under 12. Carriage rides will also be available for $2 per person or $5 per family.

The Oakdale Cemetery Christmas Remembrance of Loved Ones will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the cemetery chapel. Pastor Kari Lankford will officiate.

The next regular council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 19 in Village Hall.
