EAST PALESTINE - Billy "Shorty" Longanecker, 85, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mr. Longanecker was born September 30, 1927 in Salem, a son of William and Nellie Minner Longanecker and had lived in this area all of his life.
Billy was a heavy equipment operator for 40 years and had worked for Mesmer Coal Company in North Lima.
His wife, the former Margaret Geffert, whom he married August 22, 1958, died December 8, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11 am Friday at the funeral home.
