SALEM- A city roadway has been closed indefinitely after safety service personnel responded to a reported house explosion near the 1200 block of East Pershing Street Wednesday morning.
Firefighters responded to 1262 Court Street at 7:24 a.m. where part of the west wall of a two-story residence had collapsed into the alley. The building is owned by Doug Rodgers but had not been occupied for approximately two weeks, according to fire department personnel.
A search of the home revealed no one home at the time of the collapse. Gas and electric were shut off and the roadway barricaded.
The Salem Police Department also responded to the incident.
