EAST PALESTINE - An East Palestine man was killed early Sunday in a one-vehicle accident that ended in a shallow creek.

According to reports from the Lisbon Post of the Highway Patrol, Taylor D. Bilbo, 20, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by a county coroner's investigator.

According to the patrol, Bilbo was eastbound at a high rate of speed on state Route 558 just south of state Route 46 in Unity Township at 4:43 a.m. and lost control of the 2007 Chevy 1500 and went off the right side of the road, struck a sign, a ditch and then became airborne.

Bilbo was ejected from the truck when it overturned, struck a tree and came to rest in the creek, the patrol reported.

The patrol is still investigating the accident and was assisted at the scene by the New Waterford Police Department and East Palestine Fire/EMS.
