CHESTER - A 14-year-old boy was injured Sunday night when he ran into a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck on Carolina Avenue, police said.

Chester police Chief Ken Thorn said the boy was crossing on foot in the area of Hancock County Savings Bank, in the 300 block of Carolina Avenue, at about 6 p.m. Sunday when the accident happened.

Thorn did not know the name of the boy or the pickup truck driver. The boy was transported by helicopter ambulance to a nearby hospital, but Thorn was not sure which one.

"From all indications, he saw the truck coming and, as soon as the truck passed, he ran out but didn't see the trailer," Thorn said.

Chester police are continuing their investigation.
