I just wanted to express my appreciation and accolades to the staff and students of East Palestine Middle School for the Veteran's Day event they held at the school on Nov. 12. This was not merely a "come have lunch and be recognized" event, this was a full-fledged program with tremendous amount of thought, effort, and heart put into it, and it showed.
I was immensely impressed with the stage setting created for the auditorium and the displays of veteran related information throughout the school. Many students stood in front of a packed house and shared information on various military campaigns; sang songs dedicated to service; read their own poetry about the sacrifices of service to country; performed a poignant and moving skit on POW/MIA; closing the event with a wonderful slide show set to music.
As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force I was honored to be invited by my nephews and proud of both the students and the educators who took the time to really recognize the importance of those who have served this great country and the sacrifice so many have made.
