City police are looking for the person responsible for hitting a 9-year-old girl with a pickup on East State Street Friday evening.
Lt. Dave Casto of the Salem Police department said officers were called to the 500 block of East State Street at 9:20 p.m. after someone reported an accident.
On scene, officers were told that an early 2000s model black Chevy S-10 struck the girl and continued eastbound.

Casto said the department does not have the vehicle's registration information but that the driver is believed to be a man. The girl was taken by KLG Ambulance to Salem Hospital with serious injuries.
The Lisbon Post of the Highway Patrol also had a trooper on scene.
