St. Patrick pizza sale set

November 5, 2012
Morning Journal News

LEETONIA - This will be the sixth homemade pizza sale for the St. Patrick Church and it should be a record setter.

Marilyn Gabriel said the event, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17 from noon until 3 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., has increased its sales each year.

"Every year we have sold more," she said.

The first year, in 2007, there were 175 pizzas sold and last year hit 365. The money is used for the church.

The pizzas can be picked up at the St. Patrick social hall behind the church and people can call 330-692-0493 to order, or as the flyer says, they can stop in the school hall and they may have extras. Parking is in the back.

Or, "We'll make the pizzas for them, walk-ins are welcome," Gabriel said.

"We wrap them with instructions and people can take them home and heat them up or freeze them," she explained.

On Sunday, a group of about six volunteers worked from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. building the pizza shells and adding a thin coat of sauce "so they don't dry out," Gabriel said.

The pizzas are made with an old Italian recipe and the shells are frozen until the sale.

There are five topping choices including pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, onions and mushrooms.
