EAST PALESTINE - Wally Hill, 51, died Tuesday morning at Heritage Valley Health Systems Beaver after becoming ill at work.
Mr. Hill was born April 12, 1961 in Salem, Ohio, a son of Robert and Constance Taylor Hill, and had lived in this area all of his life.
Wally worked as a mechanic and service supervisor for many area car dealerships, including Fred Martin Ford, Donnell Ford and Heritage Ford. He also worked for U.S. Air at Pittsburgh International Airport and Hall's Industry. Most recently he was working at PTC Alliance in Darlington, Pa. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in East Palestine.
Wally coached all sports for East Palestine Youth Sports Association and played softball himself at one time. He was an East Palestine Band Parent, an avid Steelers fan, loved boating and golf. He was devoted to his wife and children and never missed one of their activities and was always willing to help others.
Besides his mother, Connie Hill of East Palestine, he is survived by his wife, the former Mary Yvonne Hutchison, whom he married May 3, 1986; his two daughters, Becky (Justin Dickey) Hill-Dickey of Alliance and Amber "Magoo" Hill of East Palestine; a sister, Kathy Parker of Beaver Falls, Pa.; a brother, James (Jan) Hill of Florence, S.C.; sister-in-law, Lynn Hill of Marion, Ohio; his mother-in law, Darlene Exposito of East Palestine; four brothers-in law and their spouses, Wayne "Rich" Hutchison of Mason, Ohio, Mike (Sherry) Hutchison of Beaver Falls, Pa., Brian "Tony" (Gloria) Hutchison of Spring Creek, Nev. and Sean Hutchison of Enon Valley, Pa.; sisters-in law, LaVonne "Eeyore" Hutchison and Kelley Bibby, both of East Palestine; his nephew, who was like his son, Billy Bibby; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his breakfast canine companion, Cinnamon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hill, his father-in-law, Wayne Richard Hutchison, a sister, Doreen Hill, and a brother, David "Fuzzy" Hill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Centenary Untied Methodist Church, East Palestine with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating. Burial will follow in East Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, where the family would encourage visitors to observe black and gold Steeler attire as a tribute to someone with a golden heart. Friends will also be received from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
