COLUMBIANA - With all of her family by her side, Lynne Ann Jackson, 60, became one of God's angels on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 after a courageous six year battle with cancer, always with a positive attitude and smile on her face.
Lynne was born August 31, 1952 in Salem, a daughter of Richard and Joanne Berryman.
She graduated from Columbiana High School in 1970 and from Bowling Green State University in 1974 where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Knowing she always wanted to be a teacher, she taught third grade at Reilly School 30 years and first grade at Buckeye School for five years. All 35 years were with Salem City Schools, where she retired in 2009.
She was a dedicated member of Grace Church, Columbiana, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Board of Christian Education and the tape ministry.
After retiring, she loved spending time in her backyard, A.K.A. "Hippley World," reading by the bubbling pond and potting shed and also watching many basketball games. She also enjoyed going to lunch and walking with her friends. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her three granddaughters, Ellie, Maddie and Lily.
Her memories will be remembered and cherished by those she leaves behind; her parents; her sons, Jeffrey and his wife, Amy and granddaughters, Ellie, Maddie and Lily of Massillon; David and his girlfriend, Ji Youn Kim of Irvine, Calif.; and her brother Jim and his wife Carol of Columbiana.
Friends and family may call from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, 28 North Main Street, Columbiana. A memorial service for Lynne will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at Grace Church, 140 South Main Street, Columbiana, with the Rev. Dr. Robert C. Joy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lynne may be made to Grace Church Memorial Fund, Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512 or Columbiana Public Library.
The family would like to thank Lynne's doctors, nurses and all other workers at Salem Community Hospital, Seidman Cancer Center at University Hospital, Cleveland, and Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate and loving care. A special thanks is extended to our Grace Church family for helping us through this difficult time.
