Columbiana County voters will have a hard time making a decision about who to support for county recorder. Fortunately, however, neither choice is bad both candidates are well-qualified.
Both Democrat Brenda Dickey Myers and Republican Theresa Bosel are seeking the position. Neither has ever held an elected position, but Myers sought the commissioners seat held by Jim Hoppel in 2008.
Both women said one of their chief goals would be to restore credibility to the office following the recent turmoil surrounding how the current county recorder, Craig Brown, responded to the avalanche of shale gas leases and the controversy over Browns alleged improper comments to a former employee.
Both candidates have taken the time to learn the operations of the office and seem very capable of handling the position.
Therefore, the Morning Journal editorial board has decided not to issue an endorsement in the county recorders race. Either candidate can do the job. Voters can't go wrong with either choice.
