I was reading the Oct. 12 Journal and came across an article that concerns me. This letter has some concerns with the discipline at the County Sheriff's Office these days.
Apparently shooting at a boy's dog is all in a day's work, then after the innocent boy gets shot in the thigh, the sheriff's office conducts an internal investigation which, not surprisingly, concludes the deputy acted properly.
Really? No independent investigation? No Bureau of Criminal Investigation? No mention of shots fired in the deputies' report? No mention of it at all?
Now we learn the county must use an undisclosed amount of taxpayer money to make it all better over a year after the incident. What's the big secret, here?
The investigation was clearly self-serving and inadequate.
