Mike Jackson wins Pigskin Picks

EAST LIVERPOOL - Mike Jackson, a resident of Wellsville, was the winner of Week 9 of The Review's Pigskin Picks. Jackson correctly picked nine out of 10 games.

Bowling league results announced

EAST LIVERPOOL - NAPA Auto Parts (11) leads the standings of the Sportsman Bowling League held at Walnut Lanes. Affordable Appliance and Six Recycling are tied with 10, Sparks Auto Clinic and Drunkin Bums are tied at 3 and Furniture Guys rounds out the field with 3. Ron Osborn bowled the high game with a 253, Todd Bednarek bowled a 218 and Bob Smith and John Hoobler each bowled a 213. Osborn bowled the high series with a 645. Larry Rudibaugh bowled a 572, and Tim Pancake bowled a 562.

Soccer boosters holding meeting

CALCUTTA- The Beaver Local Soccer Boosters are holding their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. today at the high school. They will be discussing future events and election of new officers. For information contact Bob Swickard.

WVU-Michigan basketball in NYC

NEW YORK CITY - There will be a trip to New York City, open to the public, during the Dec. 15-16 weekend. The package will include charter transportation, overnight accommodations, breakfast at the hotel, and a ticket to the West Virginia vs. Michigan men's basketball game, to be played at the brand new Barclays Center. The trip will provide plenty of free time in NYC. The cost per person, based upon quad occupancy, is $192. Packages are also available for triple and double occupancy, as well as for those not wishing to attend the basketball game. All proceeds from the trip will benefit the Oak Glen Middle School Culture Club. For information, call 304.374.7474.

Basketball league meeting being held

GLENMOOR - The George Jones Youth Basketball League, formerly the East Liverpool Youyth Christian Basketball League, will be holding a meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church. Any church wishing to participate is asked to send a represenative to the meeting. For information, call 330-383-9192.

Blue & White Touchdown Club meeting

EAST LIVERPOOL - The East Liverpool Blue & White Touchdown Club will be holding a meeting at 7:30 p.m. today in the coaches room at the high school.

EL Rebound Club pasta dinner Friday

EAST LIVERPOOL - The East Liverpool Rebound Club will host a pasta dinner fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Friday in the Westgate cafeteria before the East Liverpool-Oak Glen football game. Cost is $6 and includes pasta, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Carryout is available. Proceeds benefit ELHS boys basketball program.

Registration set for Seacats swim team

STRATTON - Stratton Seacats winter swim team sign ups will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday and Oct. 26 at the Stratton indoor pool. Bring swim suit for swim test, insurance and emergency contact information with you. Ages 5 up to age 18 are welcome to participate. The cost is $20 for 1st child and $10 for each additional child in family. For information call Jenn at 740-317-9837.

Ups for Downs golf scramble to be held

CALCUTTA - A golf scramble to benefit the locally-based "The Ups for Downs" will take place Sunday at Turkana Golf Course. Cost is $240 per team of four ($60 per person). It's an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Money due as soon as possible prior to the event. Hole sponsors also are needed at a cost of $50 per hole. Those wishing to enter a team and sponsor a hole, the cost is $280. Doughnuts provided morning of the event, hot dogs at the turn, and hot dogs and hamburgers following the event. There will be prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive and longest putt, and well as monetary prizes to the top three teams based on entries. Mulligans and skins also will be sold, and a 50-50 will take place. Further information is available by contacting Eric Derrington at 330-383-1821.
