From Staff Reports , Morning Journal News

COLUMBUS - Crestview keeps running through defenses and the Inter-Tri County League.

The Rebels, averaging 54.3 points a game, moved up one spot to fourth in the Associated Press Division V high school football poll released Monday.

"The kids appreciate the recognition, but I don't think they're getting caught up in it," Crestview coach Paul Cusick said.

The 7-0 Rebels have scored at least 57 points in five straight games, including a 63-14 win over United on Friday as senior Nick Blower became the Rebels' career rushing leader with 3,376 yards.

This Friday, the Rebels will host winless Jackson-Milton, which is giving up an average of 43.9 points this season. The Bluejays have lost 10 straight games.

Seven of the top eight teams in the Division V poll are unbeaten, including top-ranked Coldwater, second-ranked Kirtland and third-ranked Lima Central Catholic.

Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas (6-1) is ninth and Youngstown Ursuline (4-3 is lurking in 11th after handling Steubenville, 31-7, at Harding Stadium.

Marlington remains No. 1 in Division III. The Dukes improved to 7-0 with a 27-10 win over Minerva on Friday.

The much-awaited matchup between two of the top players in Stark County - Marlington's Dymonte Thomas and Minerva's Jake Riley - didn't materialize because both sat out the contest. Riley has missed the last two games due to a concussion.

Marlington will play at 6-1 Canton South in a key Northeastern Buckeye Conference matchup on Friday.

Niles (6-1) is ranked 11th, Steubenville (5-2) is 13th and Jefferson Area (5-2) is 14th.

In Division VI, Malvern (6-1) is ranked sixth and Warren JFK (6-1) is 13th.
