EAST PALESTINE - J. Scott Flynn, 52, of North Pleasant Drive, was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Hospital at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday evening, October 3, 2012, from injuries sustained in a two car accident in southern Mahoning County.
Scott was born December 25, 1959 in Beaver Falls, PA, a son of Hannah McDevitt Flynn and the late Raymond F. Flynn, and had resided in the East Palestine area for the past fourteen years, coming from New Springfield. He was a 1978 graduate of South Range High School. Scott was a member of the Laborers Union Local 884, Akron, and was currently employed with Independence Excavating, and was also associated with Hively Contracting.
An avid outdoorsman, he held life memberships in the National Rifle Association and the North America Hunting Club.
In addition to his mother of East Palestine, he leaves his former wife, Mary Young, and their daughter, Shannon Flynn, both of New Springfield; a brother, Stephen Flynn, East Palestine; and three sisters, Judith Flynn, Cortland, Kathleen Hlavcak, Salem, and Barbara Flynn, East Palestine. He also leaves numerous aunts and uncles, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 8th, at the Ferguson Memorial Chapel, New Waterford Cemetery. Friends will be received on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home.
