Raiders topple visiting Potters in 3

GREEN TOWNSHIP - The Raiders toppled the Potters.

The South Range volleyball team earned a 25-12, 25-6, 25-9, victory Wednesday night over visiting East Liverpool.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 11-5 on the season. The loss drops the Potters to 11-6.

"It was not a good night," East Liverpool head coach Bob Shansky said. "South Range played outstanding."

For the Potters, Morgan Campbell tallied eight kills, and Jordyn Adkins delivered nine assists.

South Range won the JV match, 25-22, 25-13.

For the Potters (3-12), Kylie Kreefer finished with four points, Sierra Voorhees recorded nine assists and Sierra Nichols collected four kills.

East Liverpool is scheduled to return to the court at 4:30 p.m. today at Edison. The freshman, JV and varsity teams will all be in action.

"We were not ready tonight," Shansky said. "We are going to get right back at it against an OVAC opponent in Edison. They are having a good season. We really have to turn things around quickly."

Wellsville d. Heartland Christian, 25-13, 27-25, 25-14

WELLSVILLE - The Tigers tamed the Lions.

The Wellsville volleyball team recorded a 25-13, 7-25, 25-14, victory Wednesday night over visiting Heartland Christian.

With the win, the Tigers are now 15-3 on the season. The loss drops the Lions to 12-.

Individually for Wellsville, Shanya Hamilton tallied 23 assists, Maleya Fultz finished with four aces and five kills and Sarah Skinner recorded five kills and five blocks.

Also, McKenna Pierson produced five kills and three assists, Jayla Martin netted 10 kills and two assists and Brittany Clendenning tallied two kills and two blocks.

Finally, Angelica Scarabino ended up with nine points and 11 assists.

"I thought we played very well in the first game," Wellsville head coach Dan McKinstry said. "In the second game, they stepped up. We didn't. Some of that was that they put more pressure on us. We started the third game out well. It is nice to get a couple of wins together."

Wellsville won the JV match, 25-12, 25-9.

For the Tigers (13-4), Mystic Beatty tallied 13 assists, and Ashley Bennett and Rachel Drysdale each recorded five aces and five kills.

Wellsville's next match is today at Sebring.

"We can clinch at least a tie for the lower tier title tomorrow," McKinstry said. "Hopefully, we take care of business."

Wellsville is 9-0 in league play. Columbiana is 8-2.

Edison d. Harrison Central

25-12, 25-18, 25-21

CADIZ - The Wildcats caged the Huskies.

The Edison volleyball team earned a 25-12, 25-18, 25-21, victory Wednesday night at Harrison Central.

With the win, the Wildcats are now 12-6 on the season.

Individually for Edison, Katelyn Pollock collected two aces, five points, 10 kills, two blocks and five digs, Caitlin Brenstuhl tallied five aces, eight points, five kills and 22 assists and Katie Davidson delivered one ace, five kills, eight assists and two blocks.

Also, Cassady Jarvis recorded three aces, four points, three kills and three blocks, Kylie Smith contributed seven points, three aces and three digs and Hannah Johns scored five points to go with five kills.

Finally, Victoria Freeland finished with one dig, and Alexis Gill added two kills.

The Wildcats claimed the Buckeye 8 championship last week when Edison defeated Martins Ferry.

Edison is scheduled to be in action today at home against East Liverpool. The freshman match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. The JV and varsity matches will follow.


Beavers sweep Red Riders

WEIRTON - The Beaver Local 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams earned a sweep Wednesday at Weir.

The Beavers won the 7th grade match, 25-10, 25-4.

Carmen Kano contributed five points and 13 assists to lead the way for Beaver Local.

Beaver Local won the 8th grade match, 25-12, 25-10.

Grace Beck collected six points to lead the way for the Beavers.

Beaver Local's next match is today at home against rival East Liverpool.
