Morning Journal News

NORTH GEORGETOWN - A Homeworth man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Knox Township and charges are pending for the driver of the other vehicle involved.

A highway patrol press release identified the deceased as Rick E. Cyders, 64.

According to the release, Cyders was driving a 2003 Ford F-150 eastbound on Georgetown Road near the Westville Lake Road intersection around 12:30 p.m. and Winfred A. Alderhold, 76, of Kensington, was southbound on Westville Lake Road.

According to the patrol, Alderhold failed to yield at the stop sign and struck Cyders' truck. The impact caused Cyders' truck to go off the road and overturn on its left side.

Other reports indicated that Cyders was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner's office.

Alderhold, who was also driving a Ford F-150, was taken by Damascus EMS to Aultman Hospital in Canton with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
