STEUBENVILLE - Dorothy (Dotty) Tusek, 92, originally from West Point, Ohio, died peacefully in her sleep with her family at her side in her home in Richmond, Ohio on September 9.
She was born on February 3, 1920 in Boston, Mass. to the late Charles and Emma (Knolls) Reiss. She was preceded in death by her son John Tusek Jr. in 1947 and her husband of 70 years on September 10, 2011.
She is survived by 5 children; Kathleen (Tusek) Kennedy of Richmond, Ohio, Tina (Tusek) Siria, Mathew, Mark and Mike Tusek, all of Eugene, Oregon. In addition, her sister Mary (Reiss) Bianchino of Bellingham, Mass. She has 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grand children.
Dotty was a loving, passionate wife and mother who loved to cook, garden, sew and travel. She could grow outstanding flower and vegetable gardens that would catch the eyes of those passing by her home. She was a self taught seamstress who designed and developed beautiful costumes for her children's professional acrobatic act.
In her late 50's she went to work for Ballonoff Home Products in Columbiana from where she retired. Following their retirements, John & Dotty traveled all of the 50 states with their residence at that time in Florida. While residing there she continued with her gardening and 2 mile walks every morning before daylight.
In 2008 they moved to Eugene, Oregon, where they continued with their travels. While in Eugene, they would walk the Rose Garden every day for exercise and to admire the beautiful flowers.
Dotty was a loving, devoted, amazing wife and mother who cherished her family more than anything. She was the glue that held the family together in love.
Her family quietly celebrated and will continue to celebrate a life well lived. They request donations are made to Charity Hospice, Inc., 500 Luray Drive, Wintersville, OH 43953, in Dotty's name.
