LANTANA BEACH, Fla. - Harry Ronald Petrich, "Ron" of Lantana Beach, FL, lost his battle with leukemia on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in Tampa Beach. He was 66 years young.
Born May 30th, 1946, he was the first of five sons born to Harry and Helen Petrich of Beaver Falls, PA. He was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Darlington, PA. Ron married and had three children, prior to his relocating to South Florida. He retired from Palm Beach County where he was employed as a journeyman plumber. He was affiliated with the Ironworkers Union, Service and Plumbers Union throughout his life. He had taught plumbing at the Palm Beach County Community College.
Ron loved the outdoors, from hunting in the Pennsylvania game lands to fishing trips to Canada, to his present love of the ocean and deep sea fishing. He loved hot rods and NASCAR, and was a loyal Steelers and Pens fan until the end.
He will be remembered as a mountain of a man, as a brother, a father, a mentor, and as a friend.
Ron is survived by his former wife, Laura Petrich; his son Eric (Kim) Gingher; and his daughters, Beth (Scott) Reed, and Lisa (John) Hamner. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jessica Conard, Joshua Crum, Clayton Gingher, Shane Hamner, Natalie Hamner, and Wyatt Gingher; and his great grandchildren, Connor Crum and Noah Conard; and three brothers, Ross "Al" Petrich, Richard Petrich, and Regis Petrich.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Petrich on March 9, 1981, his mother, Helen Petrich, Sept. 6, 2011, and a brother, Robert "Bo" Petrich on June 3, 2000.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, 644 East Main Street, East Palestine, OH.
Everyone that knew him loved him. We are his living legacy, and a tribute to what he was and all he wanted to be.
