Rich-Winner gets first win for Salem

Salem wins in three

ALLIANCE - Salem defeated Alliance 25-15, 25-16, 25-12, marking the first win for new head coach Allie Rich-Winner.

Leading Salem was Camrin Costal with 10 kills and an ace. Taylor Holenchick added eight kills and an ace. Carson Herron added 12 assists.

Salem (1-2) will host West Branch Thursday.

Minerva tops

West Branch

BELOIT - Minerva defeated West Branch Tuesday with wins of 25-23, 25-11 and 25-19. Kaitlyn Edie led the Warriors with eight points. Pavin Heath had four kills.

West Branch falls to 2-5 on the season while Minerva improves to 3-0.

The Lady Warriors won the J.V. match taking two out of three sets 25-16 and 25-18. Dani Lough led West Branch with 11 points.

Blue Jays stay unbeaten

EAST PALESTINE - Jackson Milton knocked off East Palestine in volleyball action in straight sets 25-21, 25-15 and 25-17 to move to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in ITCL Tier I. Rachael O'Bradovich collected 20 points, 12 kills and five digs to lead Jackson Milton.

Leading East Palestine (1-5) was Logan Gatchel with 11 points. Also, Carley Sansenbaugher had seven kills and 18 blocks.

In the J.V. Match, East Palestine won 25-21, 25-14. Carson Rudledge had 12 points for East Palestine.

Rebels down Eagles

HANOVERTON -Crestview took five sets but eventually defeated United with wins of 25-14, 25-20 and 15-10 in the final match to improve to 3-1 on the season. Leading the Rebels was Savannah Elwongee with 17 kills and 26 digs. Abbie Gallagher also had 11 kills and Adrienne Huston had 25 digs.

For United (3-2), Mollie Phillis had 11 kills and 11 digs. Sam Spitler also had three aces, 12 kills and 17 digs.

United won the J.V. contest in two sets, 25-14 and 25-22. Morgan Smallwood led the Eagles with four kills and two aces while Lauren Harrold had seven kills for the Rebels.

Clippers drop Leetonia

LEETONIA - Columbiana knocked off Leetonia 25-12, 25-13, 25-12 Tuesday.

Lindsey Roncone had 13 points, six aces and seven digs. Shayla Ray had 12 points, seven aces and nine kills. Cassandra Sampson contributed with 14 kills and four digs. Cassidy Stoddard had eight pts, 16 assists and four digs.

The Bears were led by Erin Jones with three kills. Janel Yaeger had three aces and five digs, and Miranda Grace added 17 digs.

Columbiana won the J.V. match 25-16, 25-15.

Leetonia plays at Southern Local Thursday.

South Range bests Lisbon

CANFIELD - South Range dropped Lisbon 25-19, 25-22, 25-22. Ashley Shetter had 12 kills and 10 digs for the Lady Raiders. Stevie Taylor added seven kills and 14 digs, and Caitlyn Adams had nine kills and three blocks.

For Lisbon, Kenadee Pezzano had 10 digs, 11 kills and two blocks. Tiffany Ketchum had nine digs and five kills.

The South Range J.V. team also won 25-18, 26-24. Eliza Garlough had 11 digs and six points. Madeline Hiner added seven assists and four points.

Kara Marsden had three kills and an ace for Lisbon. Landri Moore added nine assists.

Lisbon (2-4, 0-2 ITCL Tier 1) plays Jackson-Milton Thursday.

South Range (3-2, 2-1 ITCL Tier 1) plays Warren JFK.

Boys Soccer

Salem 5, Canton South 0

CANTON - Salem defeated Canton South 5-0 Tuesday in boys soccer action.

Bradley Larson had two goals for the Quakers. Seth Brine, Alex Weikart and Ryan Benson all added a goal each.

Dan Rumsey had four assists. Zach Economous had eight saves in goal.

Salem (5-1) hosts Austintown-Fitch Saturday.

Girls Soccer

Columbiana 3, Crestview 2

COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Lady Clippers won a weather-shortened contest with Crestview 3-2 Tuesday.

Sara Saverko, Skye Kramer and Jacqui Kerr had goals for Columbiana.

Alexa Roberts and Maura Belding scored for Crestview. Roberts had an assist as did Morgan Nery.


United 167,

Crestview 188

HANOVERTON - United's Bradley Miller shot a 35 to lead the Eagles past Crestview 167-188. Kasen Smith added a 37, Hayden Wilson 46 and Anthony Martin 49.

For Crestview, Tom Siembida shot 42, Craig Landsberger 42, Wyatt Nolker 50 and Taylor Coblentz 54.

United (6-7, 5-5 ITCL Tier 1) hosts Springfield today.

Crestview (8-8) hosts East Palestine.

Leetonia 167, Wellsville 216

COLUMBIANA - Leetonia dropped Wellsville 167-216. Leading Leetonia was medalist Luke Janci with a 36. Ian Stecker shot 40, Corey Valentine shot 40 and Hunter Smith 51.

For Wellsville, Travis Childers shot 45. George Anderson posted 46.

Leetonia (8-3, 7-3 ITCL Tier 2) will play Lowellville tonight at Bedford Trails.

Lowellville 97, Sebring 138

SEBRING - Lowellville defeated Sebring 97-138 through a five-hole suspended match Tuesday at Sebring Country Club. Leading Lowellville was Vince Hynes and Gino Fraticello shot 23.

For Sebring, Joey Hollbach posted 27, Jake Crewson 29, Chad Sage 41 and Allen Hines 41.

Sebring (0-8) travels to East Liverpool Country Club today to face Southern, Wellsville and McDonald.

Cross Country

Suburban League meet at Copeland Oaks

SEBRING - Tim Nichols of South Range won the Boys Suburban League Cross Country meet held Tuesday at Copeland Oaks with a time of 16:59. Rounding out the top four were Nate Boyer of East Liverpool (17:28), Drake Lohnes of West Branch (18:13), and Cole Weikart of United (18:46).

As a team, West Branch placed third in the meet, posting a team score of 92.

The South Range girls took first place in the Girls Suburban League Cross Country meet Tuesday evening at Copeland Oaks with a team sore of 22. Allison Parks of United was the overall winner with a time of (20:47). Matti Dunham (21:28, Monica Patrick (21:53), Mollie Pierson (21:58), and Madelyn Kimpel (22:18) of South Range rounded out the top five.

In the junior high boys meet, Seth Zarlinga from United placed first with a time of 12:49.

Salem vs. Alliance

SALEM - The Salem eighth grade volleyball team dropped Alliance 25-21, 25-22. Leading Salem was Janna Berger with five aces. Chloe Turnbull added eight spikes, and McKenzie Martin had three aces. Salem (2-1) plays a tri-match against West Branch and Boardman Glenwood 5 p.m. Thursday in Boardman.

The seventh grade squad lost to Alliance 23-25, 20-25. Leading Salem was Laci Ewing with nine points and five aces. Paige Butcher added five points and an ace. Georgia McLachlan added three points and five tips, and Allee Davidson-Chuck had three points, three aces and four kills. Morgan Murphy also had two points and an ace.

Salem (0-3) seventh grade plays a tri-match against West Branch and Boardman Glenwood 5 p.m. Thursday at West Branch.

Sebring vs.


SEBRING - The Sebring seventh grade volleyball team beat Jackson-Milton in three sets 21-25, 25-22, 25-13. Lisa Cathey had 20 points. Sabryna Roy added eight.

The Sebring eighth grade lost to the Lady Bluejays in two sets 13-25, 17-25. Mady Kreitzer had eight points and Alexis Coombes added five.

Sebring hosts Wellsville Thursday.
